Easter Week Visit

Justin and I visited El Puente during Easter week and here's a brief recap!

Justin hit the floor running with his carpentry workshop. We started off with a safety class on proper handling of tools:

How not to cut yourself 101
Measuring out the tables
At the end of it, about 6 tables were recycled: cut, sanded and repainted to be used at the Learning Center. The girls had a blast helping out with those, as well as making wooden boxes to store their personal belongings.

Making boxes for each one
They also made some heart-shaped wall decorations.
And here are all the tables finished.
There were so many visitors from Asuncion -more than any other time we've been at the Home. Friends and friends of friends who have heard about El Puente and wanted to come visit and contribute. They drove in a truck literally filled with donations: clothes, furniture, school supplies, cleaning supplies, toiletries, computers, musical instrument....the list goes on.

The girls have been doing amazingly well in the music classes. Three music teachers (who are also sisters) come at least once a month to teach them violin, flute and guitar. They put together an impromptu concert in which they showed their outstanding progress:

Classes have begun at the Learning Center! Rocio has been teaching an after school program for the kids in the community: Maths, Arts, reading reinforcement and basic English completely free of charge. Though it's fully built, the Learning Center does not have electricity at the moment. It needs an electric transformer for that. That will be the target of our next fundraising effort.

Every Sunday the girls get together for a very informal but very beautiful worship service. Justin and I had a chance to share with them about Jesus.

All in all, it was an amazing trip and we can't wait to go back.
